WHO WE ARE

Our History

Hand Made Here began in 2005 in the home of founding artist Jill Nuckles with 6 artists joining her. Jill says that they wanted to create a unique holiday sale featuring artists who were all operating on the same level producing high quality art and craft.

Hand Made Here achieved those goals and so much more. It became a community of artists and friends coming together to produce an event that was fun, supportive and connected people from many walks of life.

Meet Our Organizers

Hand Made Here has since outgrown its humble beginnings, relocating to the Triwood Community Center in 2010 and now has 28 – 32 participating artists.

Jill Nuckles retired from her organizational role at the end of 2022, passing the torch onto Anna Burger-Martindale (she/her), who has been joined by co-organizer; P. Susanah Windrum (she/her) in the 2024 season – Hand Made Here’s 19th year running.

Land Acknowledgement

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, îethka Nakoda Nations: Chiniki, Bearspaw, Goodstoney and Tsuut’ina Nation. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta Districts 5 and 6. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.

This sacred gathering place provides us with an opportunity to engage in and demonstrate leadership on reconciliation. Thank you for your enthusiasm and commitment to join our team on the lands of Treaty 7 territory.
